Our client wanted an outdoor space that was in keeping with the cottage feel of their converted barn home. They wanted to keep simplicity and structure, to ensure that maintenance and upkeep was manageable. Their brief included incorporating some of the old stone pieces and features that were part of the original barn before the conversion.

The family also wanted their garden to retain and complement the beautiful far-reaching views that they had over the land behind the garden. They had an added complication of needing a garden design to incorporate a public right of way through the driveway on the property.
We were tasked with providing them with a cottage garden design with public rights of way, that still gave them privacy to their back garden in a way that did not detract from the beauty of the space. It was also essential to ensure that the footpath did not interfere with the parking spaces required by the family and remained clearly marked to ensure that visitors to the footpath did not stray off course.

The property has stunning views to the rear over beautiful open fields, which the family wanted to retain. However, at times, strong winds blowing off the fields over the garden could be a problem for them.
Our remote garden design service was able to meet their needs of ensuring privacy yet providing a screen for the winds. It also ensured they could still see the beautiful views and the public right of way did not interfere with their enjoyment of their private space. The garden also needed to be a space they could use and sit comfortably within all year round.

Our garden design with a view was achieved by using dry stone walling up to 5ft. This not only acted as an effective windbreak, but it also kept the cottage garden feel that we had been required to achieve. The views were still visible through our clever use of Silver birch trees, which acted as an additional screen and wind protection but still offered the sight of the beautiful view beyond.

Through our remote garden design service, we were able to offer an affordable solution for garden design. The family could then choose a local company to carry out the groundworks for them or, indeed, carry out the work themselves with the benefit of our advice and knowledge to ensure they achieved the garden with a view that they desired.
Our new walled garden design, when presented to them, achieved all they hoped for whilst retaining elements of the old barn and the cottage feel that they required, all without the need for us to make a costly site visit.

"Pride resurfaced our courtyard to an excellent standard, top job! The lads were very polite and worked incredible hours! Highly recommended!"
