Mediterranean Courtyard Garden Nettleham

This Mediterranean Courtyard Garden in Nettleham, began with a simple brief. Refresh the existing courtyard and create a space that felt good to spend time in. Somewhere to cook, sit and have friends over. And importantly, somewhere that would lead naturally into a larger recreational area within the garden.

We started with the courtyard itself. Here, warm paving sits underfoot, with soft planting wrapping around the edges. A built in BBQ makes hosting feel easy rather than an afterthought. Meanwhile, lavender and ginkgo trees add height and movement, helping the space feel settled and relaxed.

From there, a steel archway forms the link between courtyard and garden. Subtle lighting is built into the frame, so in the evening it gently draws you through to the next space.

Just beyond this, a raised hot tub deck creates a quieter corner. Although it feels tucked away, it still remains connected to the rest of the garden. Greenery softens the edges and low lighting keeps the atmosphere calm after dark.

This is just the first phase. Next, a circular water feature, a Zen inspired corner and a timber pergola with sun loungers will follow. Each layer building on the last, gradually shaping a garden that feels considered, welcoming and ready to use.
