Modern-Mediterranean Garden Retford

This Retford spa garden was redesigned as part of a full renovation to both the front and back of the property, creating a modern Mediterranean garden and driveway that feels calm and considered. Our clients had lived in the house for some time and were ready to give the outdoor spaces the same care as the home itself. Above all, they wanted something low maintenance that would be easy to enjoy, whether on a quiet day or when spending time with family and friends.

The back garden was designed with a relaxed, spa-like feel in mind. A modern Mediterranean influence runs through the space, with room to unwind as well as space to socialise. The layout was kept clear and simple, giving each zone a purpose without feeling overdesigned.

A quiet, sunny corner was chosen for the wood-fired hot tub. Screened by fencing and cypress trees, it feels calm and tucked away. Warm-toned decking surrounds the tub, making it comfortable underfoot and helping soften the space. An irrigation system was added to keep the lawn and planting looking good with minimal effort.

To the side of the house, a bespoke timber gazebo with a clear roof creates a sheltered spot for outdoor dining. Beneath it sits an integrated kitchen and dining area, finished with festoon lighting and evergreen planting so it can be used well beyond the summer months. Timber slatted screens soften the existing brickwork and help separate the garden from the driveway, adding privacy without closing the space in.

At the front of the property, the Mediterranean-inspired driveway was redesigned to make an impact from the moment you arrive. Greenery plays a big role here, creating a welcoming feel and softening the approach to the house. A small patio area with a bistro set gives our clients a place to sit and enjoy the garden straight away.
